About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Create number-based abbreviations from individual words or full text. The first and last Unicode letters stay visible, while the number represents the code points between them, so internationalization becomes i18n.

How to use

  1. Enter one word or a passage containing several words.
  2. Generate numeronyms; words shorter than three letters remain unchanged.
  3. Copy the text with punctuation and whitespace preserved.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Why does accessibility become a11y?

The initial a and final y remain, and the eleven letters between them are replaced by 11. Internationalization similarly becomes i18n.

Does it handle non-English words?

Yes. Unicode letters and combining marks are recognized, and the interior count uses Unicode code points. Punctuation separates words and remains in place.
