About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Prepare readable examples of emails, account identifiers, and other sensitive strings without exposing their middle portion. Choose the mask character and visible prefix/suffix lengths; Unicode code points are counted so the output retains the original character count.

How to use

  1. Enter the text and select a mask character.
  2. Set how many leading and trailing characters stay visible.
  3. Copy the masked value and check its reported length.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Does masking preserve the string length?

Yes. One mask character replaces each hidden Unicode code point, and the report shows original and output lengths for verification.

Is obfuscation the same as encryption?

No. Masking is for display and redaction only. It does not protect the source text cryptographically, and preserved characters may still reveal information.
