About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Protect short text with authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption. Each encryption uses a fresh salt and initialization vector, derives a key through 250,000 PBKDF2-SHA-256 iterations, and packages all required public fields into a versioned payload.

How to use

  1. Enter plaintext and a strong password, then choose Encrypt.
  2. Save the complete kitverse-aes:v1 payload and remember the password separately.
  3. To decrypt, paste the complete payload, enter the same password, and choose Decrypt.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Can lost plaintext be recovered without the password?

No. The password is required to derive the key. There is no recovery service, and KitVerse never receives the password or payload.

Why does encrypting the same text produce different output?

A fresh random salt and initialization vector are used each time, and AES-GCM also authenticates the ciphertext against modification.
