About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Convert text with the password-based CryptoJS algorithms needed for compatible legacy workflows. AES, TripleDES, Rabbit, and RC4 produce salted OpenSSL-compatible ciphertext; decryption requires the same algorithm, complete ciphertext, and password.

How to use

  1. Enter non-empty plaintext or ciphertext, then provide a password.
  2. Choose the algorithm and Encrypt or Decrypt operation.
  3. Copy the result; to decrypt, retain the complete ciphertext and select exactly the original algorithm.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Why did decryption fail?

The password or algorithm may be wrong, or the ciphertext may be incomplete or corrupted. This tool reports decoding failures instead of presenting invalid text as a successful result.

Do all of these algorithms provide modern authenticated encryption?

No. These compatibility modes do not provide the authentication guarantees of AES-GCM. TripleDES and RC4 are obsolete, and unauthenticated ciphertext should not be trusted after decryption without separate integrity protection.
